Fragrance Notes Explained...

All fragrances are a combination of 3 layers, and the ingredients that make up each layer are called notes. The layers of a fragrance evaporate at different rates, beginning with the top notes, followed by the heart notes and then finally, the base notes. This is why the scent changes from the moment it is applied, to the point where it has "dried off" entirely. Most fragrances are carried in an alcoholic solution, so it is important to let the solution momentarily disperse when sampling a new fragrance so as to ultimately identify the true scent.
